How to Play Keno
For those of you just starting to explore the world of casinos and bets I suggest you start small and easy and try out Keno. What is Keno? Well, Keno is a simple game of numbers similar to a lottery. It's called Keno because it originated in China 3000 years ago. It has been said that the game was used to fund the building of the Great Wall of China. The Chinese brought Keno wherever they went thus spreading the game to other parts of the world. At one point in time, Keno was called the White Pigeon Game, Race Horse Keno, Chinese lottery and so on. Today, Keno is known simply as Keno.
The game of Keno is similar to lottery because it also uses numbered balls but the difference is Keno only uses 80 balls numbered 1 to 80. The casino randomly chooses 20 balls from the 80 numbers and shows them on screen called keno boards. The goal of every Keno player is to correctly guess which numbers are going to be drawn. In essence, like any other casino game, Keno is a guessing game.
To place your educated guesses, Keno players need to secure a Keno ticket. A Keno ticket is a paper with numbers 1 to 80 written on it. Keno players mark these numbers by using crayons or marking instruments. The Keno ticket is usually found on tables scattered all over the casino but it is always found in the Keno lounge. The Keno lounge is where Keno players choose and mark the Keno tickets they have.
But before any Keno player can mark his Keno ticket, he has to choose how much money he is willing to bet on the ticket. Remember that the bigger the bet on the ticket the better the chance that the Keno player will get a bigger payout. To help you in deciding, casinos usually have brochures beside the Keno table to indicate how much each payout is and if there are any house specials.
A 'catch' refers to the number of spots or numbers the Keno player have correctly guessed. A Keno player may choose to guess from 1 to 15 numbers, sometimes even more in some casinos. The more numbers you choose to select the higher the minimum numbers you have to catch to qualify for a win.
Playing Keno is simple and even relaxing. It is a game of luck and it won't hurt if you try your luck in Keno. Good Luck!
